Stuck on something? Start here.
Shotpop is made by one developer, and email lands directly in that person's inbox. Most questions are answered below — if yours isn't, write in and it gets read.
Frequently asked
Answers, in plain language
Nothing here is marketing copy. If an answer is "no", it says no.
Getting started
What Shotpop is, what it runs on, and how images get in.
What does Shotpop actually do?
It turns a screenshot into a designed image. You drop a shot onto a background — an animated mesh gradient, a solid colour, a procedural pattern or a photo — wrap it in a device frame, mark it up, hide anything private, and export.
It also handles a few adjacent jobs: code snippets with syntax highlighting, quote cards, App Store screenshot sets at exact per-device sizes, and stitching long scrolling captures together.
What do I need to run it?
An iPhone running iOS 18 or later. That's the whole requirement — no account, no sign-up, no login.
Is there an iPad or Mac version?
No, and that's deliberate rather than an oversight. Every layout, gesture and haptic in Shotpop was tuned for a phone held in one hand. Shipping a stretched iPad build would have been worse than shipping none, so iPhone is the only supported device.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Editing, text recognition, Subject Lift and export all run on your device, so the whole editor works in airplane mode.
The only part that needs a connection is restoring a purchase.
How do I get a screenshot into the app?
Three ways. Pick one from inside the app with the system photo picker; send one straight from any app's share sheet using the Shotpop share extension; or start from a home-screen or Lock Screen widget. There are App Shortcuts too, so Siri and the Shortcuts app can kick off a project.
Your images
The short version: they stay on your phone. The long version is below.
Can you see my screenshots?
No. There is no upload path in the app. Your images are never sent to a Shotpop server, because there is no Shotpop server that receives images. Editing, text recognition and export all happen on your device.
Why doesn't it ask for photo library access?
Because it doesn't need it. Importing uses Apple's system photo picker, which runs outside the app and hands over only the images you tap — Shotpop never gets read access to your library.
The one Photos permission it may ask for is add-only, so it can save a finished export back to your camera roll.
Where are my projects stored?
On your device, in the app's own storage. There is no Shotpop account and no Shotpop server — there is nothing for the developer to read.
They do not sync between devices in this version. They are included in your iPhone backup, so they restore onto a new phone along with everything else. Deleting the app deletes them, so export anything you want to keep first.
So what does leave my phone?
Never your images. What does go out:
- Your advertising identifier (IDFA) — only if you allow tracking in the App Tracking Transparency prompt — to Google AdMob and Meta for advertising and attribution.
- An anonymous RevenueCat user id and your purchase history, to RevenueCat, which manages subscriptions.
- Product-interaction analytics to Firebase Analytics, and crash and performance diagnostics to Firebase Crashlytics.
- Stock photo search queries to Unsplash and Pexels — only if stock photo search is enabled in your build, and only when you open the picker and type something. It is not enabled in the current release.
The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.
Do I have to make an account?
No. There is no account, no sign-up and no login, and no email address is collected. If you email support, that's the only time the developer sees an address from you — and it's yours, sent by you.
Free, Pro & billing
Purchases run through Apple, which shapes what support can and can't do.
What do I get for free?
You can build and export real work on the free tier. Exports carry a small Shotpop watermark, there's a cap on how many you can export per day, and the app shows ads — banner, native and interstitial, plus an optional rewarded video you can choose to watch.
How do I remove the watermark?
Upgrade to Pro. Pro exports have no watermark, no daily export cap, and ads are switched off entirely.
Is Pro a subscription or a one-time purchase?
Your choice. $4.99 / month or $24.99 / year as a subscription, or $49.99 once for lifetime access, which is a single purchase with nothing to renew or cancel.
Prices shown are in US dollars; the App Store converts to your local currency at Apple's rates.
Is there a free trial?
No trial is offered. The free tier is there instead — use it for as long as you like, and buy Pro only if the app has earned it.
How do I restore a purchase on a new phone?
Open the Pro screen and tap Restore. Make sure the iPhone is signed in to the same Apple Account that made the original purchase — restores are tied to that account, not to Shotpop.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Through Apple, in a few taps:
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Tap your name at the top, then Subscriptions.
- Choose Shotpop, then Cancel Subscription.
Apple bills and manages every subscription, so the developer cannot cancel one for you even with your permission — the controls simply aren't exposed to app makers. You keep Pro until the end of the period you've already paid for.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by Shotpop. Request one at reportaproblem.apple.com with the Apple Account you purchased on.
If something in the app is broken and that's why you're asking, please tell support too — a refund request doesn't reach the developer, so the bug would otherwise go unfixed.
Troubleshooting
The things that most often look broken but aren't.
Subject Lift didn't do anything
Subject Lift isolates a photographic subject — a person, a pet, a product, something with a real edge against a background. It runs on device, using Apple's Vision framework.
Point it at a UI screenshot and it will find nothing, because there is no subject there to find. That's expected behaviour, not a failure.
Auto-redaction missed something sensitive
Auto-redaction reads the text in your shot on device and covers what it recognises as email addresses, card numbers and keys. It is a fast first pass, not a guarantee — always look over the result before you publish.
Anything it misses can be covered by hand with the blur, pixelate or shape tools.
My projects aren't on my new iPhone
Check three things: both phones are signed in to the same Apple Account, iCloud Drive is turned on in Settings, and the new phone has a working connection. Give it a minute after first launch — a large library takes a little time to arrive.
An export won't save to Photos
Saving needs the add-only Photos permission. Open Settings → Shotpop → Photos and allow adding photos, then try the export again. You can always share the export straight to another app instead.
The share extension isn't in my share sheet
iOS hides extensions it hasn't seen used. Open the share sheet, scroll the row of app icons to the end, tap More, and switch Shotpop on — you can drag it up the list while you're there.
Something crashed or looks wrong
Please report it — crashes get fixed far faster with one good description than with ten vague ones. There's a template below that covers everything needed.
Report a bug well
A one-person studio can only fix what it can reproduce. Four lines usually does it.
- Your device and iOS version. Both are in Settings → General → About — the model name and the software version.
- What you did. The steps, in order, from opening the app to the moment it went wrong.
- What happened, and what you expected instead. "Nothing happened" is fine — say what you expected to happen.
- Whether it repeats. Every time, sometimes, or once? That single line decides how fast it can be tracked down.
Device: iPhone (model)
iOS version: 18.x
What I did: 1. …
2. …
3. …
What happened: …
I expected: …
Repeats: every time / sometimes / once
Still stuck

There is no contact form here on purpose. A form needs a server to catch it, this site doesn't have one, and a form that silently swallows your message is worse than no form at all. So: email.
hello@shotpop.appHelpful to include, depending on what you're writing about:
- A bug
- Device, iOS version, steps — the template above.
- Billing
- Which plan you bought and roughly when. Never send a card number or password.
- A feature idea
- The problem you're trying to solve, more than the solution you'd like.
- Press
- Start with the press kit — descriptions, fact sheet and assets.
Shotpop is not yet released. Support is live ahead of launch so questions have somewhere to land.
